Unity Physiotherapy

Balance Designs has recently teamed up with Ann Parkinson from Unity Physiotherapy to create a range of characters and diagrams for her new book, Dancing Through Life: A Guide to Living Well. The book has been written to empower people the reader and help them live well while taking an integrative approach to their health and wellbeing.

I’m really happy with the service I received and the wonderful images that were created. If you would like to work with someone who really cares about what they do, who aims to understand the details of the project and create something that truly represents what you have in mind I would recommend getting in touch with Wayne.

A set of character illustrations that feature within the book, Dancing Through Life: A Guide to Living Well

The set of characters created represent different aspects of wellbeing such as communication, change, mindfulness and movement. As well as being used within the book on their own, the characters also work as a set. Some of the characters that feature throughout the book were then used on the book cover to ensure there was consistency throughout the book.

Our aim with the design of the characters and the book cover was to create simple imagery that did not distract from the content of the book but support it. A calming feel was achieved by using a small natural colour palette that included colours taken from Unity Physiotherapy’s existing branding. Simple faceless characters were created to ensure the images didn’t distract the eye from the core information within the book whilst strokes with round caps give the icons a sense of calm that supports the content of the book.
